Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful wine with potential

Deep golden yellow colour with green highlights. Open, frank nose with notes of salted butter caramel, orange zest, cocoa and hints of roasting. Powerful, fine and well-balanced. Well-defined character with candied fruit, candied cherries, praline notes and a hint of smoke. Good length, taut, straightforward.

  • Keeping level Ready to drink

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Winner of the 2016 Gold Medal at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) and the 2013 Silver Medal at the International SpSpirits Challenge (ISC), our Solera cask is hand-crafted and has always been half-filled with whiskies at least 15 years old.

Domain and appellation

  • GLENFIDDICH

Aged in three different casks: sherry, bourbon and new oak: This single malt is blended in a Solera cask and then in Portuguese oak barrels, which gives it its aromatic complexity. Intriguing and complex on the nose, with sweet aromas of honey and vanilla, combined with a touch of red fruit. On the palate, a silky texture, full-bodied and flavoursome, revealing aromas of sherry, marzipan, cinnamon and ginger.
