Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and crisp

Pale yellow straw colour with some silver tints, quite fine and regular bubbles, nice frank and fresh nose of pears, acacia flowers, hints of lemon peel, hint of fresh almond, good balance on a quite light and nervous body, the dosage is quite light, the bubbles are present and perceptible, not very creamy, good frank and nervous finish. Champagne for aperitif.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

If Delamotte is one of the five oldest Champagne houses, it is because we respect traditions, serve taste and make our wines in the heart of the mythical Côte des Blancs.

Domain and appellation

  • Salon & Delamotte

Founded in 1760 by François Delamotte, the House of Delamotte is one of the 5 oldest champagne houses. The Houses Salon and Delamotte are both part of the Laurent-Perrier group.

An emblematic cuvée of the house, Delamotte Blanc de Blancs delights lovers of great Chardonnay by revealing the chalky terroir from which it comes. As an aperitif or with shellfish, it embodies the Delamotte moment. A child of the grand cru Chardonnay, Delamotte blanc de blancs is of total purity, the vinification process takes place in stainless steel vats. Blanc de Blancs is a mineral champagne whose chalky sensation is maintained thanks to a light blend of reserve wine (10% maximum). This note is the very essence of our vineyard and chardonnays which grow on a pure chalk soil. Yes, the wines can be austere in their youth, which is why the ageing on lees - well beyond the legal minimum of fifteen months - lasts four to five years before disgorging. Post-disgorgement ageing will further enhance the finesse and elegance of this cuvée.
