Our oenologists' opinion
Its dark brick red dress bouquet offers a nice nose with woody and roasted notes of coffee, caramel and candied black cherry and licorice. As for the taste, this distinctive wine with spicy notes is frank, round and fat. Its finish is highlighted by coated and satin tannins.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation
Robert MondaviRobert Mondavi, the true symbol of the Napa Valley, was recognized as one of the most influential and respected wine creators in the history of California. In 1966, he founded the first major winery in the region, the Robert Mondavi Winery. In 2004 the company was bought by the American giant of wines and spirits, Constellation Brands.
- Terroir: This very small area of California, north of San Francisco Bay, represents 4% of the total production of California wines. Small in size but big in reputation, it was in 1981, the first American Viticultural Area (AVA) to be designated in California. With its diversity of microclimates and its unique soil, Napa meaning "land of plenty", produces world-class wines.
- Viticulture: Environmentally conscious, Robert Mondavi was the first manufacturer to receive the award "Innovator" by the Environmental Protection Agency of California, in 1998.
