Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Deep brick colour with tints of tile. Open nose of cherry syrup, spicy notes of pomegranate, incense and white pepper. Good balance, full-bodied, good envelope, good tension. Frank character on the minerality, small minty touch, good frank length.

Robe
Brick Red

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine Joseph Mellot

The domain Joseph Mellot is a family establishment located in Sancerre. The origin of the family dates back to 1513. From generation to generation, it became the specialist and the ambassador of the Greats Vintage of the Center of the Loire thanks to its unique savoir-faire. The Joseph Mellot wines express the quintessence of each of their terroirs, well-known and rewarded globally for their great quality.

    • Terroir: The vineyard is located on hills made of clay and limestone.

    • Viticulture: The domain has adopted a reasoned struggle.

    • Wine-making: The wine ages for 10 months in wood barrels. The wood used for the aging comes from the oak forests of the region (Allogny and Saint Palais).
