Our oenologists' opinion
Garnet colour with brick tints, clear and shiny; open, frank nose with notes of cherry, kirch and melted chocolate; supple, satiny attack, tension, fullness, good balance, morello cherry and kirch character, long and fairly fat tannins; supple, spicy finish, medium length on morello cherry and mocha with a cinnamon touch.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
It is said that the wines of Givry were the favourites of King Henry IV.
Domain and appellation
Maison Joseph Drouhin
A full-bodied wine, which seduces many connoisseurs. A bright and shiny colour, intensely fruity aromas with hints of redcurrant and blackcurrant, evolving towards candied and spicy nuances with the age of the wine. On the palate, a fine balance between fleshiness and finesse, firm but fine tannins. A very long and greedy finish, with flavours of very ripe fruit.
