Powerful bouquet

Showing all the temper of this ruby-colored wine, the fragrances it releases recall the cherry and the black pepper. In mouth, the attack unveils a great suppleness before an acidulous finish that features a great taste of red fruits and kirsch. The whole is incredibly persistent in mouth.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Château de Marsannay

    Neighbour to Dijon in the Côte de Nuits, the Château de Marsannay spreads across 34 hectares with 26 hectares within the Marsannay appellation and 8 hectares in Côte de Nuits appellations.

     

    • Terroir: Mainly located on a limestone soil, the vineyard lays on a typical Burgundy soil that is made of several different layers. This geological specificity is typical of Burgundy and strengthens the concept of terroir. The vineyard is located at 250/280 m.

     

    • Viticulture: Much care is given to the soils with partial grassing operations and plowing. The disbudding process aims at giving the grapes some space. The harvests are hand-picked and thoroughly sorted out on a table.

     

    • Vinification: A cold maceration is followed by an alcoholic fermentation with a pigeage. The wines age in oak barrel in a typical Burgundy arched cellar.
