Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Brick colour with some garnet highlights. Nice open nose of roasted fruit, candied fruit, then liquorice and cocoa. Good balance on a full-bodied wine, warm point, frank, finesse. Lovely character with notes of cocoa, roasting, old leather, then candied fruit. The tannins are ripe, coated and supple. Long-lasting cigar notes.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Delas Frères

For more than 180 years, the "winegrower's heart" of Delas Frères has been expressing itself with high standards and passion in the northern appellations of the Rhône Valley. The Domaine wines and parcel selections that come from them illustrate the House's policy, based on the quality of the terroirs. Under the impetus of Fabrice Rosset, since 1996, Delas Frères has undertaken a major investment programme: new vat room, renovation of the ageing cellar, acquisition of vineyards.
