Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark brick colour with garnet tints. Beautiful nose opening on a bouquet of aromas, with a hint of violet, then of candied black fruits, black cherries, cooked prunes, then more evolved notes, spicy of tapenade, rosemary. Beautiful balance on a full-bodied, frank wine with finesse. Nice character which prolongs the bouquet of the nose, supple and already melted tannins, beautiful signed length.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHATEAU DES FINES ROCHES

Located between Sorgues and Châteauneuf du Pape, the Château des Fines Roches is distinguished by its medieval-looking architecture with battlements, machicolations and mullioned windows dating from the 19th century. The estate has belonged to the Mousset family since 1832.
Terroir: Spread over 45 hectares, the estate lies on a soil of rolled pebbles on the surface and a clay subsoil.
Viticulture: The vines are on average 60 years old with a mix of grenache, syrah, cinsault and mourvèdre.
Vinification: The wine is aged in tuns for 12 months after a 21-day vatting period in stainless steel tanks.
