Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Black garnet color with brick reflections, dark, dense, opaque and shiny. Reduced nose to open, then notes of garrigue, liquorice, roasted coffee and blackberry coulis, spicy, full-bodied. On the palate, a rich, warm attack, tension, full-bodied, on silky and fatty tannins, character on the roasting. Racy, full-bodied, ample finish, fairly good balance.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Barton & Guestier

Region: south of the Rhone Valley between Nîmes and Alès. This wine is a nugget found in the Duché d'Uzès appellation, from a unique vineyard located at the confluence of the Rhône, Languedoc and Cévennes.

Vinification: Grapes destemmed, daily pumping over - long maceration in vats for 3 weeks.

Aged in wood for 6 months. Careful vinification to preserve the fruit and finesse of these great Syrahs. Viticulture: Low yields, manual maintenance, rigorous selection and minimal interference in the natural ripening of the grapes. Production is limited to 12,000 bottles per cuvée.
