Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

A fairly deep lemon yellow colour. Open and typical nose of yellow fruits, fresh apricots, floral notes of mimosas, then spicy and peppery. Nice balance on a round and full wine, nice sweetness without heaviness. Nice character, elegant, notes of white chocolate. Beautifully long and greedy.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

In the best years, some Alsace or Alsace Grands Crus can be completed by the mention "Vendange Tardive". The richness of these sweet wines is perfectly natural

Domain and appellation

  • Domaines Schlumberger

Our Pinot Gris Vendange Tardive is a 100% Grand Cru Spiegel, produced on our hillsides (between 260 and 315 metres) from an east-facing marl soil. A follow-up work is carried out from the winter pruning of the vines until the harvest. The grapes are harvested by hand on our hillsides and then transported in crates (to avoid damaging the berries) to our cellars to be slowly pressed. After a settling of about 3 days, the perfectly clear juice is fermented in tuns where the temperature is rigorously controlled. Fermentation lasts from 1 to 3 months until spring. The wine is then stabilised, filtered and bottled. The bottles are then stored before being dressed and shipped around the world.
