Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is open and expressive, revealing aromas of black pepper, plum and peony.

The attack is clean, supported by supple tannins, good structure and a pleasant finesse.

On the palate, it reveals a lovely character, marked by notes of kirsch and cherry stone.

The finish, balanced and lingering, offers hints of toast and mocha.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • SOPHIE BERTIN

Deeply rooted in Sancerre, we are the fourth generation to cultivate Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir with love, passion and respect for nature across 45 hectares of vineyards.

This range was born out of the meeting between Éric Louis, a winegrower, and Sophie Bertin, a true-born Sancerroise. Sophie — whose first name means ‘wisdom’ in Greek — might well have instilled a little of that virtue in her winegrower.

You might think so… But when they work together in the cellar, the atmosphere is more a case of ‘dare or dare not!’.

And so they took up the challenge of creating a cuvée with a more feminine style, combining suppleness, subtlety and elegance. Driven by a strong desire for freedom and creativity, they chose to produce these wines under the ‘Vin de France’ appellation, in order to break free from convention and fully express their vision.
