Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

The nose is open and frank, with white fruits, citrus fruits and a hint of menthol.

The attack is round and generous, marked by notes of bergamot, white peach and citron, with a touch of sweetness and a pleasant, enveloping texture.

The whole is carried by a good balance.

The finish is tangy and generous, with a slight sweetness and medium length on white peach.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • CAVE DE TAIN

Founded in 1933 by Louis Gambert de Loche, Cave de Tain benefits from the expertise of nearly 300 winegrowers spread over approximately 1,000 hectares of vineyards to produce wines from the Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cornas and Saint-Péray appellations, as well as local wines.

Terroir: Granitic soil covered with silt, loess and limestone debris.

Vinification: Selection of old vines planted on the appellation's finest terraces. Manual harvesting in pallox crates the day before pressing and cold soaking for 24 hours.

Gentle pressing of the grapes on arrival at the winery, with protection against oxidation from the first juices.

Cold settling for 24 hours. Initial alcoholic fermentation in vats at 18-20°C, followed by transfer to barrels during fermentation.

    Ageing: In 400-litre barrels: new (12%), 3 wines (26%), 4 wines (27%) and 6 wines (35%).
