Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is powerful and intense, expressing notes of roasted coffee, mocha, caramel and baked black fruits.

The attack is supple and balanced, offering body and aromatic consistency, in line with the nose.

The palate is full-bodied and structured, leading to a full-bodied finish marked by roasted spices and a hint of chilli pepper.

A wine of character, with controlled and flavourful power.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • It is said that long before Greek civilisation, the Silenes were gods of the fields.

The estate owes its name to the discovery of an ancient clay seal depicting the head of a Silenus.

The Grés de Montpellier stretch from east to west of Montpellier, bordered by the Hérault valley to the west, the Pic Saint Loup region to the north, the Vidourle valley to the east and the coastline to the south.
