Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

The nose is complex and expressive, blending notes of undergrowth, truffle, young leather and nutmeg, supported by a blackcurrant coulis.

The attack is rich and full-bodied, with beautiful texture and lovely notes of candied wild berries, in perfect balance.

The finish is supple and enveloping, with beautiful persistence carried by blackcurrant.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • GÉRARD BERTRAND

The Hospitalitas plot, located at the heart of the vineyard at the foot of a 30-metre cliff that shelters it from northern winds, benefits from a unique microclimate.

The exceptional character of this cuvée comes from its position across the estate’s two distinctive terroirs.

On one side, the Gargasian marl-limestone soils, rich in fossils, provide a natural water supply throughout the summer, even during dry periods.

On the other, the Mediterranean red soils of the Barremian, formed from compact bluish-grey limestone reclaimed from the garrigue, allow the production of wines that are rich, deep and concentrated.

The blend of grape varieties grown on these two terroirs brings a vibrant aromatic expression, notable freshness, and a beautiful balance between fruit, roundness and ageing potential.
