Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and crisp

The nose is open and distinctive, revealing notes of morello cherry, iron ore, thyme and bay leaf, enhanced by a hint of eucalyptus.

The attack is supple, animated by tension and a slight envelope, with tannins that are still young and a slight bitterness that will eventually melt away.

The finish, tangy and crisp, expresses itself with morello cherry and kirsch, with a sapid touch that prolongs the pleasure.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE PIERRE LAURENT

The Pierre Laurent estate is built around two highly complementary sites.

The first, covering 4 hectares and primarily devoted to red wines, produces the superb Pinot Noirs that have established the renown of L’Étang-Vergy.

The second, located in Chevannes, focuses on white wines (5 hectares) and benefits from a rare full south-facing exposure, giving Chardonnay remarkable body and a radiant colour, appealing to both men and women.

This high-altitude vineyard proves especially valuable in warm vintages, preserving freshness and balance.
