Powerful bouquet

Purple colour. Frank nose, with hints of mocha and coffee. Opens with peppery aromas, roasted black fruits. Supple attack, full and enveloping. Typical character with blackcurrant coulis and fresh pepper. Good balance, good persistence. A little young and needs to mellow.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE GEANTET-PANSIOT

    Founded in 1954, the family estate is now run by Vincent Geantet and his son Fabien. Terroir: The 13 hectare vineyard is located south of Dijon in the Côte d'Or department and the Burgundy region. Viticulture: In the vineyards, integrated farming is applied.  Each plot of land is carefully ploughed; the vines thus draw all the trace elements they need from the depths of the soil. Each vine is pruned to allow optimal ventilation of the berries. The harvest is carried out manually and systematically goes through an intense sorting phase: The grapes are not crushed, the principle of intracellular maceration is used, thus preserving the varietal aromas of the grapes. The grapes obtained are of remarkable quality, the wine is pumped over and the punching down is not exaggerated during the extraction process. The Geantet-Pansiot wines are built up gently, and are aged for 14 months in barrels, 30% of which are new.
