Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

The nose is frank and powerful, marked by spicy and roasted notes, blending black pepper, mocha, cocoa and toasted bread.

The attack is supple, bringing roundness, a slight sweetness and power, in a beautiful balance on a fleshy body.

The palate develops a pronounced character of roasted notes, followed by black fruits au gratin.

The tannins, rich and supple, elegantly structure the whole.

The finish is sustained, carried by a round and indulgent finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU DU DONJON

In 1996, Jean Panis released his first vintage. From the very beginning, he left his signature, with a strong focus on the purity and expression of fruit. That same year, he met Caroline, who became fully involved in the venture. In 2003, their story grew richer with the birth of their daughter, Camille.

With a powerful build, an oval face and his hair pulled back, Jean Panis commands attention. His keen, observant eyes, bold eyebrows and warm smile naturally invite conversation. His energy is palpable, his stride confident, and his precise movements reflect a deep personal commitment.

A creator at heart and a true artist, he is driven by strong convictions and guided by passion. Everything seems to fall into place: today, Jean Panis leads his vineyard with a masterful hand, balancing precision, passion and intuition.
