Powerful bouquet

Black colour with a purple hue. Closed nose to be opened. Heady, aromas of cumin, thyme, liquorice, roasted black fruit. Fleshy attack, envelope, balance. Frank length. Character with aromas of garrigue. Good persistence on fresh mentholated notes.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine Cigalus

    The Cigalus estate benefits from a warm and sunny Mediterranean climate, allowing for advanced ripening of all the grape varieties. The estate is cultivated using Biodynamic methods. The aridity of this climate with its low rainfall is compensated for by deep soils (sediments deposited by the Aussou, the stream that borders the property), which store winter rainfall for longer, but whose fertility is limited by the presence in the subsoil of slightly calcareous sandstone dating from the Campanian period (secondary era, prior to the emergence of the Pyrenees).
