Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Garnet colour with bright red highlights. The nose is open with notes of morello cherry, toasted wood, cocoa, nutmeg and cloves, with a hint of cinnamon. The attack is supple, acidulous and spicy, with tension, finesse, tannins that need time to develop, and body. Character of small red stone fruits, spices and bitter cocoa. Full-bodied finish, present tannins to mellow, good persistence, young wine, ageing potential.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE DU PASQUIER

Since 1900, our family estate has managed 10 hectares of vines in the communes of Nuits Saint Georges, Premeaux-Prissey, Aloxe Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses. We are now in our 5th generation of winemaking, producing eleven wines: four whites and seven reds. We work our vines using sustainable methods: the slopes are grassed and the vines are ploughed. We have HVE (High Environmental Value) certification. The wines are made using the traditional method. After alcoholic fermentation in vats, they are placed in barrels for malolactic fermentation and ageing. The wines are bottled after one year for the whites and 18 months for the reds.
