Our oenologists' opinion
Bright old gold colour. Small open vanilla nose with brioche and then grainy notes. Well-balanced, round, the alcohol is quite melted, not aggressive, frank.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.
Do you know ?
The name Highland Queen comes from the association of the port of Leith, where Roderick Macdonald had his production site and the triumphant arrival of Mary Stuart in this location in 1561.
Domain and appellation
The founding of the Highland Queen whiskey dates back to 1893, when Roderick Macdonald created his society Macdonald & Muir Ltd, better known under the name of Glenmorangie Company. Therefore, this Highland Queen whiskey is the result of the experience of many generations concerning the distillery and the blending of the best scotch whiskeys.
- The Highland Queen whiskey was made in one of the rare Scottish distilleries still independent and run by a family. A particular care has been carried to the assembly of this typical and authentic blend.
