Our oenologists' opinion

Shiny sustained golden color with some copper highlights, nice fresh nose with notes of citrus zest, white chocolate, vanilla, good balance, full-bodied and quite lively, nice structure for a cocktail, without roundness, character on citrus fruits, the vanilla, notes of bitter orange, a nice straightforward length, fresh and melted. Nice Rum which is not on the sweetness but on the tension.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Aged for up to 10 years in American oak barrels, Angostura 1919 has an unmistakable 100% Trinidadian character: a bit like blending the styles of Barbados, Demerara and Cuba into one rum. It's no wonder that with such a unique character it has won so many blind tasting competitions!

Angostura

Trinidad and Tobago are two famous islands in more ways than one. Not only do they host the largest carnival in the Caribbean, they are also home to Angostura, a company known worldwide for its Aromatic Bitters. The only distillery in the country since the closure of Caroni in 2003, Angostura also produces some of the most awarded rums in the world. With its complete range exported to the four corners of the globe, the brand is now the pride of an entire country.
