Our oenologists' opinion

Well-rounded

Mahogany colour with bronze highlights, nice open nose, bouquet of stewed fruits, flambéed banana, hint of orange blossom then salted butter, hint of caramel, nice balance on a soft, round, coated rum, melted sweetness notes, without heaviness or doughiness, aromatically the character prolongs the nose with a hint of milk caramel wood, coconut notes. Nice fresh finish but a bit short.

Features

Body The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

Zacapa

Zacapa rum originates from Guatemala. It is distilled from virgin sugarcane honey and aged using the "sistema solera" method: rums of different ages and profiles are blended and then aged in a succession of at least three different barrels. Zacapa Rum also stands out in the person of Lorena Vasquez, one of the few female cellar masters. She imposes her unique style, carefully checking and selecting the rum in each of the barrels used for blending.
