Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Straw yellow color with some golden reflections, fine, regular, persistent bubbles, nice frank nose of white chocolate, mocha, fine mineral notes of gun flint, toast, hint of candied ginger. Good balance, full-bodied, nervous, fairly low dosage, creamy bubbles. Persistent finish on notes of lemon zest and mineral.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

The jewel of the Maison Louis Roederer, the Cristal Roederer cuvée was created in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II. The House called on a Flemish master glassmaker to make a bespoke bottle for the Tsar, with the aim of overcoming any attack on his person. This is how the famous crystal bottle, transparent and with a flat bottom, was born.

Domain and appellation

  • ROEDERER

Founded in 1776, the house was entrusted to the hands of Louis Roederer in 1833 to expand and establish itself on the most beautiful terroirs of Champagne. When the other houses bought their crops from wine growers, the Roederer house embarked on a policy of acquiring the most prestigious wines. Cristal Roederer is THE house of prestige and certainly one of the best known in the world.

    •         Terroir: The house has vineyards in the 3 most important wine-growing regions of Champagne: the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côtes des Blancs.

    •         Viticulture: Spread over 240 hectares, the vineyards are separated into 410 plots. Like the Clos de Bourgogne, the vines are pampered and worked on a plot basis in order to respect the diversity of the terroirs.

    •         Vinification: Produced only during the "great years", Cristal Roederer is made up of 100% classified growths. Aged in the cellar on the lees for 6 years, it benefits from an additional 8 months after disgorging.
