Domain and appellation
Founded in 1829, the prestigious Bollinger was born from the association of three men: Athanase Louis Emmanuel Hennequin - Count Villermont, Jacques Joseph Bollinger and Paul Renaudin.
- Terroir: Located at Aÿ, a converging point between three parts of the Champagne region (the Mountain of Reims, the Marne Valley and Côte des Blancs), this area of 160 hectares lies on clay-limestone and chalk gravel.
- Viticulture: The vineyard covers two thirds of its grape requirements. Environmentally, Bollinger was the first house to obtain, in 2014, the new certification "Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne."
- Vinification: DR 1999 vintage is the result of a blend of 23 different wines including 71% in Grands Crus and Premiers Crus by 29%. Very slightly dosed at 3 to 4 grams of sugar per litre, the wine undergoes a maturation time of more than three times the rules of the label.
