Our oenologists' opinion

A colour tinged with golden reflections, witness to the maturity of the wine, but also to the Bollinger vinification methods. A fruity, precise and finely iodized nose. Aromas of cherry and lemon mingle with quince and bergamot. The palate opens with a fine and intense effervescence, followed by a beautiful vinosity and balanced by a delicate acidity. Its very fine texture and saline finish give it a long finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

    La Grande Année is the embodiment of the traditional know-how that Bollinger has always preserved. The wine is thus exclusively vinified in small old oak barrels. Champagne Bollinger has never abandoned this ancient method, which favours the development of very fine aromas. After a prolonged ageing on the lees, each bottle of La Grande Année is still stirred and disgorged by hand. Only very high quality harvests are vintage-aged at Bollinger: the 2014 vintage gave birth to a wine that is both precise, fine and complex, with its minerality and exceptional intensity.
