Fruity and well-rounded

Beautiful deep garnet colour offers a nose of concentrated aromas of very ripe red fruits with a slight evolution on notes of liquorice and plum. In the mouth, this port has a nice balance between sweetness, acidity and tannin structure. The finish in the mouth opens on notes of violet and chocolat.

Caractéristiques

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Le domaine et l'appellation

  • Porto Sao Pedro

    The powerful dynamasim of the Maison São Pedro allows for the creation of exceptional and unique products with a place on the high end Port market.
    Terroir: Spread across 180 hectares, this vineyard is located in the Douro (the river that crosses the country east to west up to the city of Porto) and lays on granitic soils.
    Viticulture: The main grape varieties are the touriga nacional, the touriga franca, the tinta roriz and the tinta barroca du Cima Corgo.
    Vinification: An adjunction of brandy aims at stopping the natural fermentation.
    Ruby ports are often made of a young ports’ blend. They age for 3 years in barrels.
