Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Garnet colour. The nose is frank, greedy and typical of blackcurrant coulis and candied redcurrants, opening up to pepper, spices and thyme.  Supple attack of the envelope. Frank and greedy length. Character on the aromatics. Good length, greedy and typical.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • DOMAINE DE L'HORTUS

In the heart of the garrigue of the Montpellier hinterland, in the magical valley bounded by the crests of Pic Saint-Loup and Mont Hortus, the Domaine benefits from a unique ancestral terroir. It is this terroir which, before the application of our know-how, is at the origin of our great wines. This cuvée comes from some of the finest terroirs on the estate, where water management is at its healthiest, thanks to draining soils whose depth allows a sufficiently large water reserve to be built up so that the plant does not suffer from summer drought. As a result, the grapes ripen very evenly and offer an excellent balance between tannin quality, acidity and aromas.
