Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Dark garnet colour. The nose opens with black fruit gratin, roasted wood, toasted and vanilla notes, followed by chocolate, black pepper and a hint of thyme. Well-balanced, straightforward, full-bodied, fleshy, with a heady note, finesse and sweetness. Character that extends the aromas of the nose, ripe tannins. Good persistent finish.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • MAS DU SILENE

It is said that long before Greek civilisation, Silenes were the deities of the fields. The estate owes its name to the discovery of an ancient clay seal depicting a Silenus head. Les Grés de Montpellier stretches from east to west of Montpellier, bounded by the Hérault valley to the west, the Pic Saint Loup region to the north, the Vidourle valley to the east and the coast to the south.
