Domain and appellation

  • BOLLINGER

Founded in 1829, the prestigious House of Bollinger was born from the association of three men: Athanase Louis Emmanuel Hennequin - Count of Villermont, Jacques Joseph Bollinger and Paul Renaudin. The name "Special Cuvée" of the House of Bollinger has existed since 1911.  The date "1846" refers to the design of the bottle. Indeed, the bottle is characterised by a wider base and a thinner neck, typical of the 1840s.

Terroir: Situated in Aÿ, the converging point of the 3 regions of the Champagne terroir (the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs), this 160-hectare estate lies on clay-limestone and chalk gravel soils.
Viticulture: The vineyard covers two thirds of its grape needs. Environmentally conscious, Bollinger was the first company to obtain the new "Viticulture Durable en Champagne" certification in 2014.
Vinification: the Spécial Cuvée is lightly dosed and aged in the cellar for a minimum of 3 years. This ageing, much longer than required by the rules of the Appellation, allows the aromas to develop perfectly.
