Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Black colour. Clear nose of candied pepper, black fruit coulis and fresh spices. Opens with notes of tobacco and a hint of flowers. Fleshy attack, long finish, balance. Straightforward, typical character, with spices and blackcurrant coulis. Good persistence.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

In keeping with its desire to promote and develop the indigenous grape varieties of the South-West, Plaimont is reviving forgotten grape varieties in its Ampelographic Conservatory. Thanks to the observation work carried out by the Plaimont winegrowers, a Manseng Noir vine was found in an old plot in 2000. This grape variety allows it to adapt to major climatic changes and to defend the genetic and aromatic diversity of the South West. Today, Manseng Noir represents 25 hectares
