Powerful wine with potential

Black colour with a violet hue. Frank, frank, woody nose, with vanilla and fresh spices. Opens on roasted plum, violet. Notes of caramel. Ample attack, body, balance. Round tannins. Nice character with aromas, garrigue, fresh spices.

Caractéristiques

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Le domaine et l'appellation

  • Château Laville Bertrou

    Le Viala comes from a parcel of Château Laville Bertrou, located on an exceptional terroir within the very qualitative La Livinière appellation, officially recognised in 1998, synonymous with great Languedoc wines. This extraordinary terroir, acquired by Gérard Bertrand in 1997, allows the production of powerful and distinctive wines that have won numerous awards. Benefiting from a semi-arid Mediterranean climate with a temperate winter variation, Viala faces due south on the heights of the village of La Livinière at an altitude of around 120m. The soil is made up of a mosaic of scoured marl, associated with calcareous sandstone and compact limestone dating from the Eocene, Tertiary era.
