Well-rounded

The nose is open and frank, with notes of blackcurrant, blueberry and cocoa bean, underlined by a hint of peppermint.


The attack is full-bodied, supported by long tannins and a fine structure.

 

The wine reveals an assertive character of candied blackcurrant and dark chocolate, with good balance.


Fleshy finish, with a hint of sapid bitterness, medium persistence, typical wine.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

    Clos La Coutale – Un vin de Cahors à renommée mondiale

     

    Situé dans les méandres de la vallée du Lot, le Clos La Coutale produit des vins au rayonnement international. En 2009, la revue américaine Wine Spectator l’a classé parmi les 100 meilleurs vins du monde.

     

    Terroir :
    S’étendant sur 100 hectares, le vignoble bénéficie d’un microclimat entre influences océaniques et continentales. Les sols, constitués de graves et de silices argilo-calcaires, sont particulièrement propices à l’élaboration de vins de garde. Le cépage principal est le Malbec, localement appelé Auxerrois.

     

    Viticulture :
    Les vignes ont en moyenne 35 ans et sont conduites en taille guyot simple à 7 yeux. Les rendements sont volontairement modérés (45 hl/ha) pour permettre au fruit de s’exprimer avec intensité.

     

    Vinification :
    Les parcelles sont vinifiées séparément en cuves inox thermo-régulées, avec remontages et pigeages, puis le vin est partiellement élevé en foudre de chêne.

    2022 : Premier millésime certifié Agriculture Biologique.
