Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Gold colour with green glints. Nice frank, floral nose with jasmine and acacia. Opens with notes of white pepper, then on citrus fruits, candied, with a hint of bergamot. Full-bodied attack, full and balanced. Straightforward lengthening, tension, fatness. Nice balance. Character on white flowers, pepper. Good persistence.

Features

Body The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

Cave de Tain

Fondée en 1933 par Louis Gambert de Loche, la Cave de Tain bénéficie de l’expertise de près de 300 viticulteurs étendus sur environ 1000 hectares de vignes pour produire des vins aux appellations Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Cornas et Saint Péray ainsi que des vins de pays.
Terroir : Sols granitiques et alluvions fluvio-glaciaires, en terrasses.
Vinification : Vendange manuelle. Pressurage doux des raisins à leur arrivée aux chais. Sélection des jus afin d'exprimer le meilleur du raisin et protection contre l'oxydation dès l'écoulement des premiers jus. Débourbage au froid, puis entonnage partiel en fûts pendant la fermentation alcoolique afin de préserver la fraîcheur tout en favorisant une riche expression aromatique.
Élevage: En fûts neufs pour 30% du volume, le reste en fûts de 1, 2 et 3 vins, sur lies fines pendant 8 mois environ avec bâtonnages réguliers.
