Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet colour with brick tints, nose of dried fruits, candied fruits, warm hints, notes of liquorice, good balance on a rather full-bodied wine, the character is on candied fruits, notes of cooked prunes, liquorice, finish on tannins without fat.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The Rioja region is comprised of three sub-regions. Located higher in altitude, the rioja Alta benefits from an oceanic climate. On the region’s east side, the Rioja Baja is hotter and drier with a mediterranean climate. In between, the Rioja Alavesa receives the influence of both climates.

    Fondée en 1970 par Enrique Forner à son retour en Espagne après l'exil en France de sa famille et avoir été propriétaire d'un grand cru classé dans le Haut-Médoc, Marqués de Cáceres reste aujourd'hui ancrée dans une dynamique haut-de-gamme. Conseillée par plusieurs garndes figures du vin telles que le professeur Emile Peynaud à sa création et Michel Rolland de nos jours, la maison familiale a fait de l'appellation Rioja l'une des plus prestigieuses au monde. C'est dans ce cadre qu'en 2014 elle a lancé sa collection EXCELLENS de vins exclusifs destinés à une distribution sélective à la restauration, aux épiceries fines et cavistes (exclusivité Nicolas), dont l’Excellens Reserva en est justement le fer de lance. Sélection dans la sous-région de Rioja Alta de 25 hectares de vignoble en altitude (entre 500 et 600m) de 40 à 45 d’âge, constitué de parcelles plantées sur des collines aux sols argileux-calcaires, ferreux et graveleux, baignées par un climat atlantique tempéré.
