The Côtes de Bourg appellation is one of the oldest of the Bordeaux region and is frequently called “Bordeaux little’s Switzerland” for its hilly location.
Domain and appellation
Côtes de Bourg AOC
Ideally located in front of the Margaux appellation on the right bank of the Gironde estuary and south to the city of Blaye, the Côtes de Bourg appellation signs its difference through the slogan “The spicy side of Bordeaux.”
- Terroir: Neighboring the Gironde estuary’s delta where Dordogne and Garonne meet, the Côtes de Bourg benefits from a unique microclimate with less rain, more sun and a lesser thermal difference.
- Viticulture: Spread across 3950 hectares and 15 villages, the vines are made of merlot, malbec, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, sauvignon blanc, muscadelle and colombard.
- Vinification: With only 29 hectares of vines dedicated to white grape varieties, the appellation produces over 95% of red wines.
Grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot
- Cabernet Sauvignon
