Our oenologists' opinion

Well-rounded

The nose is clean and distinct, characterised by aromas of morello cherry and kirsch, with hints of fresh pepper and a touch of undergrowth, all within a delicately Pinot-like profile.

The attack is supple, characterised by fine balance and pleasant finesse.

The palate develops with a clean, distinctive finish, with hints of mocha and spices that add complexity and depth.

The finish is medium-length, in a harmonious and approachable style.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Patriarche Père et Fils, based in Beaune in the former 17th-century Couvent de la Visitation, with its 5 kilometres of vaulted cellars and 2 million bottles ageing there, is a guarantee of wine crafted with passion.

Domain and appellation

  • PATRIARCHE PÈRE ET FILS

Santenay comprises several villages and hamlets. From the summit of Mont de Sène and Montagne des Trois Croix, the view stretches for miles, and human settlement here dates back to prehistoric times.

The castle is closely associated with the Dukes of Burgundy.

The Sorine windmill is also part of this village’s history. The Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) was established in 1937.
