Our oenologists' opinion
Well-rounded
The straightforward nose reveals notes of roasting, tobacco and mocha, underlined by a hint of herbs that add freshness.
The attack is fleshy, full-bodied and taut, revealing a fine body and an elegant character based on morello cherry and kirsch.
The finish, carried by fleshy tannins, prolongs the tasting experience with delicious suppleness.
A wine that is both expressive and structured.

Features
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

CHÂTEAU PICARD
Classified as a Cru Bourgeois in 1932, Château Picard, located in the heart of the village of Saint-Estèphe, has always been regarded as one of the finest in the appellation.
The latest estate acquired by Mähler-Besse (1997), this 8-hectare vineyard was chosen for its development potential and its manageable size, allowing full control over production.
Since the acquisition of Château Picard, Mähler-Besse has renovated the cellars in Napoleon III style and equipped the property with high-performance vinification facilities, featuring gravity-fed grape reception.
