Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

The nose is frank and floral, evoking aromas of peony, blackcurrant coulis and roasted plum.

The attack is supple, marked by roundness and fine balance.

The finish is clean, with spicy notes and a subtle hint of mocha.

The wine is full-bodied, well-crafted and lingers well, leaving a harmonious, elegant impression.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • CHÂTEAU DE PIERREUX

A light sorting was carried out upon harvest reception to refine this cuvée and enhance its quality. The grapes were 100% destemmed and then vinified in concrete vats.

The fermentation process was relatively slow, taking place at temperatures between 22 and 28°C, with one pump-over per day and a maceration lasting 12 to 18 days, including 2 to 4 rack-and-returns towards the end.

The wine was then aged in 50 hL oak foudres for 6 months, to develop its structure, smooth the tannins, and allow for optimal micro-oxygenation. The first bottling took place at the end of March 2023.
