Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and light

Golden yellow colour with bright yellow reflections, limpid and shiny. Open nose with notes of honey, quince paste and curry, hints of dried apricot. Round and greedy attack, beautiful sweetness, good balance, sapid. Sapid, greedy and fruity finish. Good balance between sugar and acidity, medium persistence, nice freshness.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Style ? Dry wines are acidic, lively and fresh while sweet wines are soft and feel round in the mouth.

Do you know ?

There are two ways to produce sweet wines. The”easiest” way consists of adding sugar during the vinification and then to stop the alcoholic fermentation with suffers, a process named chaptalisation. The other way helps produce more qualitative types of wines and control over the grape ripeness in the vineyard.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine De La Croix

Situated in the commune of Gabarnac, this family property extends over 40 hectares.
In 2013, Mathieu ARNAUD took over from his parents, who had built the farm from scratch in 1981.
The production is based around three colours of wine:
red, dry white and sweet white wines with an very strong respect for the environment. Indeed, his parents before him and Mathieu today have always practised sustainable agriculture. More recently, he started a conversion of organic farming in January 2018. Strong convictions drive him to practice sustainable, responsible and respectful agriculture!
