Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Its ruby color announces a fresh nose of blackcurrant and violet. The palate is balanced, round, characterized and nervous with ripe, coated and crisp tannins.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

Very tannic, the syrah is native from the French Septentrional Rhône. This grape variety is the most planted in Australia where it is named Shiraz, as it is called in all of the new world countries.

Domain and appellation

  • Cave de Tain l'Hermitage

Established in 1933 by Louis Gambert de Loche, the Caves de Tain benefit from the savoir-faire of 300 winegrowers. Their vineyards span over 1000 hectares of vines to produce wines that carry the Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Cornas and Saint Péray appellations as well as vins de pays -local terroir wines.

    • Terroir: Located on the left and right banks of the septentrional Rhône, the selected plots benefit from the neighboring appellations’ terroirs and lay on sand soils.

    • Viticulture: Yields are intentionally limited in order to produce ripe grapes.

    • Vinification: A cold pre-fermentation, a slow extraction of the fruits and the exclusion of oak help to preserve all of the fruits’ aromas.
