Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark brick colour with some garnet highlights. The nose is open with a woody note, still very present, of vanilla, coconut, a hint of mocha and then blueberry coulis. Good balance with a frank, straightforward, full-bodied wine. Frank character that prolongs the aromas of the nose. The finish is frank and quite supple.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • Château Tour Prignac

    Château Tour Prignac is one of the largest vineyards in the Médoc. The estate underwent extensive renovation after it was bought by the Castel family in 1973.
     
    - Terroir: The estate extends over 300 hectares, more than 147 of which are planted with vines, and lies on clay-limestone and gravelly soils.
     
    - Vinification: In the winery, the wine is vinified on a parcel-by-parcel basis. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels (80% new).
