Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and crisp

Its light color with green hues offers a fresh aery nose that is pure, elegant and vibrant with pomelo and citrus aromas. The palate is balanced, net, fine, dry and nervous with a good envelope. The finish is tensed on a chiseled vibrant minerality.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Domain and appellation

  • Penfolds

Established in Australia’s most prominent wine regions, Penfolds thrives through an ancestral tradition and savoir-faire. The maison sources its grapes from 220 vineyards spread across Australia’s best terroirs to produce three different styles of wines with single vineyard, single region or multiple-regions’ blendings.

    • Terroir:  The grapes selected for this Koonunga Hill Autumn Riesling are sourced out from the Barossa Valley and the Eden Valleys.

    • Viticulture: As mentioned above, the grapes are sourced out from Penfolds’ own domains but also from vineyards that they either lease or buy the grapes from. No matter where they come from, the most important criteria remains the grapes and vineyards’ quality and origin.

    • Vinification: Penfolds’ three different wine styles are driven by the maison’s continuous search for perfection and improvement. The fermentation in stainless steel tanks is followed by the bottling process. This wine is characterized by a small addition of traminer.
