Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet colour with bright red reflections, limpid and shiny. Open nose with notes of plums, cocoa, blackberries and burnt wood, hints of dried flowers. Supple attack, satiny tannins, ample, full and frank. Satiny finish, nice character on black fruit and cocoa. Beautiful tension, sapid, rather complex, keeps its promises.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • The winter of 2018 was mild and dry, intil the month of march marked the return of the rain. The s^pring was particularly humid causing a delay of the vine. The months of may and june, hotter than normal, allowed an acceleration of the vine's development. The summer of 2018, hot and dry, allowed the vine to continue its development with grapes that were rich and concentrated in aromas. Furthermore, the oenologists of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, by their presence and know-how, allowed the reveal of the best 2018 vintage.
