Our oenologists' opinion
Fruity and well-rounded
Its deep straw color introduces a nose of fresh citrus, white flowers and acacia. The palate is balanced, straight, round, characterized and nervous with a tense, crisp and coated finish.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Do you know ?
The Château de la Tour Penet used to belong to the French poet Alphonse Lamartine.
Domain and appellation
Maison Jacques Charlet
Negociant and producer in Burgundy and Beaujolais, the Jacques Charlet maison benefits from an ancestral savoir-faire. Evidence of wine deliveries made to Louis XIV’s first architect, Monsieur Gabriel, were found in some old accounting sheets.
- Terroir: Owners of several domains in the region, the Jacques Charlet maison also buys harvests to winegrowers through established partnerships. Producer and negociant, the maison is particularly attached to respect the notion of terroir. The Château de la Tour Penet is one of the properties. Spread across 14 hectares, the vineyard has a south exposition and lays on a clay-limestone soil with vines that are 50 years old in average. The region’s favorable weather with fresh nights is particularly conducive to the production of chardonnay.
- Viticulture: The implementation of sustainable agriculture aims at preserving the different terroirs over time. Ripe fruits is also one of the maison’s main criteria.
- Vinification: Depending on the growths and domains, the wine ages in foudre, barrels or tanks.
- Chardonnay : 100%
