Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Its bright coral color announces a fresh and exuberant nose of red fruits and currants. The palate is balanced, straight, round, ample, characterized and nervous. The finish is tensed and coated. Crisp and sapid. A success.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

The Bordeaux rosés are “bleeding” rosés. The grapes and juice macerate for a few hours prior to be separated.

Domain and appellation

  • Château Haut-Rian

Located in the Bordeaux wine region of Entre-Deux-Mers in the towns of Rions, Béguey and Soulignac, Château Haut-Rian produces white wines under the appellation Entre-deux-Mers, red wines under Côtes de Bordeaux and rosé wines under Bordeaux Rosé.

    • Terroir: The 80 hectares vineyard is located  on south and south-east sidehills under hot and dry weather conditions. The clay-limestone soil with gravely outcrops is conducive to the production of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc.

    • Viticulture: The plots that are selected for the red wine are in average 26 years old. They lay on a limestone soil to produce merlot as the main grape variety.

    • Vinification: In the vat room, the grapes macerate for 12 to 24 hours prior to be pressed.
