Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

The négrette is the flagship grape variety of the Fronton AOC, of which it is the sole holder. Brought back from Cyprus by the Order of St Jean of Jerusalem in the 12th century. It belongs to the same family as the Malbec and Tannat grapes, the Cotoïdes family.

Domain and appellation

  • Château Bellevue La Forêt

Located in the heart of the Fronton appellation, Château Bellevue la Forêt is the largest private property in the South West of France. Its wines are awarded numerous prizes each year.

Terroir: Spread over 112 hectares, the vineyard has the particularity of producing négrette.

Viticulture: Harvesting is either mechanical or manual.

Vinification: The grapes are vinified on a parcel-by-parcel basis. Fermentation in thermo-regulated vats with pumping over and punching down precedes maturation in oak barrels or vats.
