Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and well-rounded

Its yellow color with green reflections offers a nice fresh nose on spicy, mentholated notes of garrigue (rosemary, laurel). On the palate this wine has a beautiful balance, full-bodied, with nerve, tension and freshness.

Straw with green tints

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Do you know ?

The size of the vines depends mainly on the environment in which they operate. For example, Mediterranean vineyards prefer a gobelet size to protect the clusters of the sun. The size in simple guyot is implanted in Burgundy while the Bordeaux vineyards prefer a double guyot size. This type of size has the advantage of letting tractors and other agricultural tools pass. Finally, the Cordon de Royat method makes it possible to spread clusters throughout the vine lines in order to mechanize the vineyard work.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine de l'Hortus

Located in Valfaunès at the foot of the Hortus and Pic Saint Louis mountains, the vineyards of the Orliac family stretch over 60 hectares in the heart of the Languedocian scrubland.
