Our oenologists' opinion

Fruity and light

Ruby colour with fuchsia tints. Nice open nose, frank with floral notes of peony, lilac, then black cherries, hint of ripe strawberries. Nice balance on a greedy wine, with a nice freshness, a nice tension. Crisp, easy finish, with the freshness of small red fruits, medium persistence. This is the return of the true Beaujolais Nouveau as a thirst-quenching wine!.

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Do you know ?

To benefit from the "Beaujolais Nouveau" appellation, the wines must come from either the Beaujolais or Beaujolais Village appellation area.

Domain and appellation

  • Domaine du Pass'Loup

This is a beautiful 20 hectare estate, owned by the Dubost Martin family for 4 generations. It is located in the South of Beaujolais on the granite soils of the foothills of the Massif Central. The vines have an average age of more than 50 years (from 5 to 85 years) and produce a dense and fleshy wine.
Cultivated on wire in guyot pruning and grassed to reduce yields and eliminate the risks of rot and erosion, they are harvested by hand. For the past 10 years, the estate has had a Sustainable Agriculture contract and is part of a winegrowing group that promotes sustainable viticulture.
