Our oenologists' opinion
Its dark brick color introduces a fresh and exuberant nose of dark fruits, citrus peels, licorice and smoky notes. The palate is balanced, straight, fine, round, ample and signed with hints of sweet spices, cinnamon, havana and cocoa. Nervous and mineral, this wine offers a lasting finish that is stringent and coated with silky tannins.
Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.
Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.
Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.
Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

The name “Château du Bois de la Garde” refers to Napoleon’s most experimented soldiers, the Grognards, who used to fight in the prestigious “Garde Impériale.” Coming back from the battlefield as civilians, they laid down the roots of this prestigious domain by starting this vineyard.
Domain and appellation
Located between Avignon and Orange, the Château du Bois de la Garde belongs to the Domaines Mousset-Barrot. Specialized in Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf du Pape, the Maison only produces AOC, vins de pays (local wines) and Village appellation wines.
- Terroir: This provencal mansion overlooks a large continuous domain of 60 hectares. With a South-west orientation, the vineyard lays on a pebble soil that retains the heat during the day to redistribute it over night.
- Viticulture: The owners like to explain the thorough work carried out all year long in the vineyard. A special focus is given to the Mistral (South of France wind) and its influence on the vines. The domain uses the goblet training system for pruning in order to protect the grapes from the sun and wind.
- Vinification: The fermentation and maceration occur in stainless steel tanks. The wine ages in cement tanks.
