Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Dark garnet colour with bright red highlights, clear and brilliant; open nose with notes of blackcurrant coulis, blackberries, menthol and cocoa bean, hint of mocha and young leather; supple, satiny attack, with young wood to melt, then wood fruits and cocoa, good balance, nice grain of tannins, full, ample, fat; velvety, ample finish, nice finesse, nice persistence on mocha, hint of cold tobacco, very fine and frank

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Laniote is a small family estate 900 m from the town of Saint-Emilion, in our family since 1842. It is remarkably situated on the edge of the limestone plateau. Its terroir allows for the production of a powerful, fruity and structured wine that can be kept for a long time. The vines are 35 years old on average, planted with 80% Merlot. The wine is aged in barrels for 12 to 16 months, with 40% new barrels.
