Our oenologists' opinion

Powerful bouquet

Deep garnet colour with black highlights. Clear nose of black fruits, gratinés, roasted wood, smoked hints. Good balance, full-bodied, slightly delicate, warm, with a character dominated by toasted, roasted wood.

Features

Body ? The body is the way a wine feels inside the mouth. Several factors, such as the alcohol content and the presence of tannins, contribute to the feel of the wine.

Freshness ? The freshness of a wine is defined by its level of acidity. Unlike rounded wines, fresh wines are easy to drink, and are more lively. Acidity plays a necessary part in a wine's structure.

Aging ? All wines do not have the same aging potential. Some are supposed to be consumed at a young age while others must be kept for longer periods of time.

Tannins ? Coming from stems, grape pips and their storage barrels, the tannin gives structure to red wines only.

Domain and appellation

  • Château Laniote

Laniote Castle is one of the smallest Grands Crus of Saint-Emilion. The care given to viticulture as well as winemaking techniques highlighst the qualities of this grand cru appellation.

    • Terroir: Located on the right bank of the Dordogne, the 5 hectare vineyard grows on a clay and limestone soil that is conducive to the Merlot grape varieties.

    • Viticulture: The harvest is manual and sorted twice before stemming.

    • Vinification: A plot-by-plot vinification is favored in stainless steel and cement vats. Aging lasts from 12 to 15 months.
  • Grapes Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Grapes
    • Merlot : 80.0%
    • Cabernet Franc : 15.0%
